Synthetic fibers trap heat, sweat, and bacteria. We chose sustainable, raw, organic wool because it is nature's performance fabric : thermoregulating, odor-resistant, antimicrobial, and antibacterial. 

Named for Shaniko, Oregon, once the wool capital of the world, grace layer’s buttery soft wool is an ultra-premium, extra-fine merino grown under strict quality standards in Oregon.  It is sourced from a group of family ranches spanning Oregon, California, Colorado, Nevada, and Utah, a system rooted in the Carver family’s Imperial Stock Ranch, established in 1871.

Roughly half of wool’s weight is carbon, meaning the fiber itself helps pull carbon out of the atmosphere, not add to it. On Shaniko’s ranches, regenerative grazing practices are measurably increasing soil carbon, year over year. And at the end of its life, the wool breaks down completely.

Shaniko wool is double-certified: Responsible Wool Standard (RWS) and NATIVA Regen.  That means it’s fully traceable from farm to finished garment.
